This chapter describes light as a being. Something that is always with us. It’s a great visualization. If you think about it, we all have this sense of something unseen. It’s faith. It’s trust. It’s comforting. As Desai describes it, this light that’s with us provides a sense of calm and protection. We are one with the Divine light, and he encourages us to realize this. We are the light, and it is us. We are extensions of one another.
Sometimes just knowing that we are connected to a greater being, whatever that means to us, is all we need to feel love, connection and purpose. As the Spiritual Awareness movement evolves, more and more people are realizing the power of the light. For those of us still learning on that journey, Desai describes it for us here in this chapter. Noticing and being the light allows us to feel spacious, centered, fulfilled. It will help guide us from fear and into love.
I like that he actually takes it a step further – the light in others. He reminds us to notice the light and goodness in everyone we meet. See their kindness, their generosity. There may be moments of trial where we lose sight of the light and feel like we’re walking in total darkness. But, the more familiar with the light we become, the quicker we’ll be able to find it again in these moments of struggle.
