For the longest time, one of my requirements for the person I fall in love with is that they have to be passionate. About something. It could be something that completely doesn’t interest me or make sense to me, but as long as it lights up their eyes, I don’t care.
People with a passion project are my favorite people. And luckily, I’m surrounded by a lot of them in my life. These people just light up from within and they love it so much and they’re so excited by it that they can’t wait to go and spread that light in the world around them. I love that. These are the people who are truly living — and you feel more alive yourself just being around them.
There’s a determination that sets in when people are passionate. The road to get there doesn’t have to be perfect — in fact it oftentimes is far from it. These people go on anyway. And it doesn’t feel like work. They love the effort, they love the results, they love the cause and the meaning. Most of the passion projects I see are side projects. They aren’t what pays the bills. It’s soul food, more than it’s what puts food on the table. And that’s why I love these people who carry that passion. They aren’t in it for any reason other than they want more so badly and they believe in what they’re doing and they love what they’re doing and they whole-heartedly what to share that goodness with the world. These people are the ones who change the world.
